Does your hunting season coincide with Ohio's hunting season?
No, we are a licensed hunting preserve. We start hunting in mid August when the antlers are full grown but still in velvet, and we hunt through the middle of January or when the deer start dropping there antlers.
What type of weapon can I use?
All traditional hunting methods are allowed. Bow, Crossbow, Muzzleloader, Pistol, Rifle, and Shotguns are all useable weapons.
Do I need a hunting license to hunt on the preserve?
If you are a non-resident of the state of Ohio no license is required, however; Ohio residents must have a current hunting license.
Can I hunt without a guide?
No, all hunts are guided to properly manage the animals on our property.
What happens if I shoot the wrong size deer?
With your hunt being fully guided, the staff takes the responsibility to make sure your deer is the right size. If the deer is larger than what you had paid for, you owe no extra money and you have a larger trophy to take home with you. If the deer is smaller we will refund the difference.
What type of property do we hunt on?
The Sanctuary Too offers hunters the full spectrum. You can hunt large hardwoods, a nice thicket, vast food plots, scattered throughout the property.
Does the client choose where he hunts?
Although, our guides are up for suggestions, our staff here will determine where you will be hunting depending on deer movement and what hunting methods you are using. We will assure you that our staff is on top of deer movement and patterns, and they will make sure your hunt is as successful as it can be.
Will I need to bring any food or drinks with me?
The Sanctuary Too staff provides three meals a day, along with beverages. If you want to bring your own snacks, you are more than welcome to.
If I harvest my deer on the first day, what other activities are there to do during my stay?
The Sanctuary Too has a wide variety of things to do. We offer a five stand sporting clays course, fishing on our 8 acre pond, and upland bird hunting on the premises. Also, depending on the time of year you join us, we offer fair chase deer hunting on properties that are near our lodge.
Will my party be the only hunting party there?
In almost all circumstances you will be the only party here hunting on the farm, however we do offer fair chase hunting on local land in which our lodge provides accommodations for them as well.
Can I bring a non-hunting guest?
You can definitely bring non-hunting guests, however there is a small lodge fee for the guests. It is $125 a night per person which includes meals, lodging, and use of the facility.
Do you have weapons we can borrow?
While we do rent shotguns for our 5-stand sporting clays course, we would prefer that you bring the weapon of your choice to harvest any deer.
What type of stands will we be hunting out of?
We offer a wide range of hunting stands. We have large elevated hunting boxes, ladder stands, lock on stands, as well as ground blinds.
Do you accommodate handicapped hunters?
We welcome handicapped hunters; Please make sure that prior to your hunt we are aware of any specific accommodations needed.
Are meat processing and taxidermy services available?
Yes meat processing, and taxidermy services are available. We have contacts in the area that would be grateful for your business. If you have a taxidermist of choice we can assist you in the preparation, and shipping or transporting of your animal.
